Sioux Empire Paddlers Big Sioux River Circuit
Sioux Empire Paddlers want to help you explore more parts of the Big Sioux River. The Big Sioux River stretches 419 miles from Roberts County to Sioux City Iowa. 419 miles is a lot to cover so we decided to make a Big Sioux Circuit to cover from Flandreau SD to Akron IA in 2021. If this circuit does well we hope to 2022 can get us from Watertown SD to Sioux City IA.
The Big Sioux Circuit wont be a bunch of overnights or racing. We will do day trip sections throughout the summer. We will do each section as a group. We will help each other shuttle and explore. We hope this circuit can open up more river to paddlers that aren’t familiar with certain stretches.
Big Sioux Circuit Routes
Depending on the flow and which day we pick to paddle a certain route we may include more than one route. If you are familiar with a certain stretch and would love to lead paddlers down any route. Please let us know. This will be a great opportunity to show others your favorite section of the river and help others paddle down it safely.

]]>
Depending on the state you live in or length of your paddling vessel. Some states don’t require you to register your boats with the state. You may look at this is a nice option or convenient not to have to register your boat. But what happens if you kayak goes missing or is stolen?
Over the years there has been instances with missing or unattended boats being found with no way to find the owner. This can also be a major safety issue for rescue teams if your boat just happens to catch a gust of wind and goes solo down the river or lake. There is always that case where someone steals your boat to later abandon it or try to sell it at a pawn shop.
There are a lot of benefits of registering your boat but sometimes there are no options to register. Sioux Empire Paddlers is offering free boat registration for our members. With this registration we would work with the local Police and GF&P to let them know we have this information in the case of missing or found boats. We believe this could possibly help out rescue team, law enforcement agencies and boat owners.
It is simple to register your vessel(s) with us. Email the information below to info@siouxempirepaddlers.org to register your vessels.
**All information is optional. Please provide as much information as you feel comfortable with.**

We want to make sure all our members are safe and don’t have to go through the hassle of finding boat information in the case of a stolen or lost vessel.
Another great way to help with lost and stolen boats is to use a “If Found Contact” decal on the inside of your boat. Starting 2019 we will send out one free “If Found Contact” decal with your membership letter. You can buy extra *here*.

Q: Is there a limit to how many boats I can register
A: You are able to register all the boats you own
Q: What is the cost to register my boat for extra safety measures
A: We are offering this free of charge for all current Sioux Empire Paddler Members
Q: Can I do this instead of registering with my state

Calling all Supporters
We are looking for all our paddlers, club supporters, and Sioux Falls Whitewater Park supporters. Sioux Falls community members we are also looking for you. We want more paddling opportunities, more focus on the river condition, improve our waterways, establish economic growth, build a fun place to use FREE, and be the first whitewater park in South Dakota.
Sioux Empire Paddlers is a 501(c)3 club organization. We are a member-based organization that focuses on paddling education, safety and improving our paddling community. Besides our member events and kayak classes, we want to bring a whitewater park to Sioux Falls.
A whitewater park consists of reestablished banks, possible low head dam modification, allow built up foam to move more freely down river and safe water features to add a little adventure. Photographers, watching river users, family picnics, tubing, body boarding, surfing, kayaking, rafting, canoeing, anglers, swift water rescue training and much more, use these parks. Our goal is to bring Sioux Falls a 500-foot whitewater park right in downtown Sioux Falls. This parks current conceptual design would have feature for the novice to advanced paddlers. The surf waves would have two options for high flow and low flow. Whitewater parks are known as a fun summer getaway for families and paddlers alike. They are also known for great economic boosters. These parks can bring in $750,000.00 to $2,000,000.00 in economic impact annually. They bring in a work-life balance that many young professionals are looking for.
This will be our last fundraiser to the general public for the engineering and permits phase of our project. We hope the community and paddling community can come together to help us raise the amount we need for this phase. When we come together and make this pledge successful, we are able to move onto our next phase. However, our supporters are the most important piece of the puzzle. You the supporter will show the want for such a project and help us with our second phase. Our second phase, after all engineering and permits, is to start grant writing and reaching out to local business to support our project to get our construction phase. Therefore, it is very important we get as many supporters as possible to show our grantees and supporting business. The pledge is simple. You print off the pledge card below and fill it out. You can remain anonymous or you can share your name in support of the project. You can pledge $25.00, $50.00, $75.00, $100.00, $150.00, $250.00, $500.00, $750.00, $1,000.00, $2,500.00 or select a special amount that you would like to donate. You will have from 09/01/2018 to 06/30/2019 to fill out the card and mail it in or email it to us. If by 07/01/2019 we have reached our goal, payment will need to be submitted to us no later than 12/31/2019. If we do not hit our goal, you do not have to pay if you do not want to. This pledge is to get all our supporters together to make this dream come true.

**any paid pledge amount over $250.00 will also receive tax letter for your donation**
**only pay if we meet our goal**
**you can pay before pledge date is done “06/30/2019” and still receive donation benefits**
**any amount pledge above our existing goal will be put towards construction cost of our river revitalization project**

Thank you for all the support with our T-Shirt fundraiser. This fundraiser has ended.
Sioux Empire Paddlers wanted some swag for our paddling community so we thought of several designs and got stuck on these two designs! So we decided to offer both designs on several types of shirts. Our board also wanted to get away from those cheap shirts that we never wear, are not comfortable and that don’t last a long time. So we went out searching for high quality shirts and found Scratchpad Tees out of Sioux Falls. We fell in love with these shirts right away. They were so comfy we almost didn’t bring our demo shirts back to the store! These shirts are made from high quality Bella Canvas tees. We believe these shirts wont end up at the bottom off our drawer or back of our closet at anytime.
We are offering two different designs on multiple colors, multiple styles and multiple sizes. We hope you can support our shirt fundraiser by buying one or more shirts. Shirts, tanks, long sleeve and hoodies are below with the different options we have. We are selling shirts from May 15,2018 to June 16,2018. Roughly two weeks after June 16,2018, we will be delivering and shipping out shirts to our supporters. You can order them via secured PayPal link below or send us your order through the mail.
